Giovanni Battista Sammartini short biography
An important Italian composer and conductor, Giovanni Battista Sammartini earned a very high early acclaim and was appointed maestro di cappella at the Congregation of the St. Entierro in Milan. One of the first creators of the symphony genre, Sammartini won a great international recognition. Sammartini’s compositions were published in London and Paris. Sammartini lived and worked in Milan where he became a household name.
