Leos Janacek short biography

A great Moravian composer, Leos Janacek won wide international recognition later in his life. Janacek’s career began in his native country. Janacek was one of the first collectors of the local folk tunes. He studied the local speech intonations that were clearly displayed in Janacek’s vocal and instrumental compositions. Janacek's opera Jenufa, staged in Parague in 1915, brought the composer long awaited international fame.
